  1. Having a plan for the day can help you stay focused on the tasks at hand. Spend 5-10 minutes every night (or morning) planning out how you will spend the next day. Organisation is more important than effort when it comes to being productive. Do the things that require the least amount of time or attention in the morning, and save the rest of the day for things like emails, organization, and breaks. Every day, aim for something specific. Pick three things you really need to get done, and set aside at least 90 minutes to do them.If you want to establish your daily agenda in the morning, get up 5-10 minutes earlier than you typically would to make time for it. A hectic morning routine is not the foundation for an effective day.
    Use time blocks to ensure that you don’t spend hours in a row doing the same thing. Focus can be maintained more easily throughout the day if you get up and move around frequently and do different activities at different times.
  2. Keep your phone on vibrate or silent unless you’re expecting an emergency call. Distractions like Facebook, Twitter, and text messages may ruin your day. Avoid further phone-related procrastination by hanging up immediately. If you want to get things done, you need to be able to concentrate on them without too many interruptions.
    There are programs you may use to prevent you from accessing social media during certain times of the day or after a certain amount of time has passed if you find yourself checking it obsessively.
    If you need to concentrate, put your phone in a different room or a drawer at work.
  3. Maintaining a tidy workspace and home environment might aid with concentration. Distractions abound in a chaotic environment, making it difficult to focus on your work. Every day, before you call it a day, take a few minutes to clean up your place, whether it’s at work or at home. It’s simpler to stick to a routine if you’re greeted each day by a spotless house or a decluttered workspace.
    To an extent, the adage “out of sight, out of mind” also applies in reverse. What’s in plain sight usually has a powerful pull on people. Keep out the files you need to work on and clear the rest of your desk if there’s a pile on it.
  4. Most individuals are more productive in the morning, so undertake critical things early. Don’t put off going grocery shopping until 8 o’clock at night, when you’ll likely be too exhausted to make good decisions. Make the calls or set up the appointments before noon if you want to pitch a new service to a few key clients. In this way, you can avoid the afternoon slump that can hinder your productivity.
    If you organize your day in this way, you will not only get the most important things done, but you will also gain a sense of momentum that will carry you through the rest of the day.
    Take a short nap if you find yourself drained of energy late in the day while you’re not working. Napping for just 20 minutes will help you get back into an effective frame of mind.
  5. The practice of multitasking rarely results in an increase in overall productivity. If you focus all of your efforts on a single endeavor at a time, you will increase the likelihood that you will complete the tasks at hand. Turn off the radio while you’re at work, the television when you’re studying, and don’t try to multitask by answering emails and doing other work-related activities at the same time. It takes your brain some time to readjust to the requirements of a new activity, and while it does so, you expend a lot of energy trying to get back into the swing of things. This type of multitasking is not productive and should be avoided as much as possible.
    When you’re in the zone, where time seems to fly by and you’re completely absorbed in what you’re doing, you’ll experience the highest levels of productivity. If you are continually switching between two or three different tasks, it will be much more difficult for you to enter into that condition.
  6. It is difficult to be productive if you believe that what you are doing is for no good reason. Before you even get started, you should get in the habit of challenging yourself to find meaning in everything you do. For instance, if you are simply recording your hours worked at work on a timesheet, remind yourself that you are assisting your employer in holding you accountable for your actions. This, in turn, helps you continue being productive at work, which is something you want to strive for. You can even make a connection between all of that and the mission of your firm, and you can use it to help you remember why that is important as well. Your overall mood will improve if you can learn to find value in mundane everyday activities. If you go through the day moping about how you’re squandering your time while doing nothing productive, you’ll never get anything done.
  7. Every hour, set aside five to ten minutes for yourself to relax and re-energize. Get up and stretch, go outside for a quick burst of cool air, or just take a short stroll down the hall for some much-needed exercise. Aside from the fact that this will help you return to the task at hand feeling energised, it will also offer your body a break from sitting or staring at a screen for too long, depending on what you’ve been doing. Sitting for lengthy periods of time can cause your body to become tense and uncomfortable.

    The Pomodoro technique has a lot of devoted followers among people who are good at getting things done. When you operate in this manner, you devote 25 minutes of undivided attention to a single activity before pausing for a brief break of five minutes. You repeat this pattern five times. If you notice that you are losing your momentum every 35–45 minutes or so, this could be an excellent choice for you to consider.

  8. Begin with a baby step, and see how quickly you build up to more complex routines. Make it a point to give yourself just five minutes a day to work on a new habit. Increase by 50% the next week. Maintain the guideline of ten minutes every day for the next week or two at the very least. After some time, your brain will develop accustomed to devoting ten minutes to this activity, and before long, it will turn into a habit. This is a fantastic method for getting yourself to create modest procedural habits, such as going to the gym first thing in the morning or meditating every afternoon.

    If you aren’t used to doing something, it may be difficult to get through the first week of it, but you should persevere through it! The more practise you acquire, the less difficult it will become.
